Events at Chapman University

Chapman holds so many events for its students. Chapman never fails to keep their students busy doing numerous activities on campus and in the surrounding area of Orange County. On campus, Chapman holds many events throughout each day weather it’s through the school itself or through our many clubs and organizations. But, when it comes to off campus Chapman is providing transportation and tickets for many places and events for a cheaper cost. All events are usually posted around the school and listed in the Chapman events page (linked below).

University Program Board (UPB) is a student run organization whose mission is “to enhance the overall experience at Chapman University by actively engaging the students with entertaining, educational, and diverse programs throughout the academic year” (Chapman UPB). UPB will gather and discuss and create events for all culture’s holidays (such as a Holi event held in March), events for student’s needs at that current time (such as a yoga event to destress during finals), academic or speaker events (such as Laverne Cox giving a speech on campus), and off campus events (such as $35 Disneyland tickets and bus rides to Huntington beach for Corgchella).

As you can see Chapman keeps us very busy with the wide variety of fun and inexpensive events for students, but two that I or people I know have attended and enjoyed this year are The Fall Concert featuring Big Gigantic, Winterfest and Doy’s Holiday Tree Lighting, and the Midnight Breakfast.

The Fall Concert

The Fall Concert is a concert at the City National Grove of Anaheim every fall semester. This past semester the guest was Big Gigantic, but it is someone new every year, the year before it was the Chainsmokers. Tickets are around $20 and transportation is provided. Buses pick up students by the dorms and take them back and forth from the venu.

Winterfest

Winterfest and the holiday tree lighting is held the week before our week-long Thanksgiving break. The tree lighting is held in the Piazza in the middle of campus and the whole community is welcome to watch a holiday show for free! There are beautiful holiday lights, a choir, an entire show featuring one of our favorite holiday cartoon characters, and fake snow (something we never see in SoCal). The show is about an hour long featuring students and staff who dance, sing, and tell jokes.

Midnight Breakfast

Midnight Breakfast is one of my favorite events held during finals week. Like the name implies, at midnight during a weeknight there is breakfast food for free in the Agros Forum. This event is held for students staying up late and studying so they can take a quick and fun study break to destress. This year it was a midnight waffle breakfast with a Shrek theme. The first few people to get into the event would get free Shrek ears to laugh and have a good time. The lines for midnight breakfast are usually very long so get there early to make it back in time to finish your studying!
